What are the things I should do and shouldn't do if I have Crohn's disease or Ulcerative colitis?

There are some things you can do to make things worse. Smoking has to be one of the worst things you can do to your stomach and overall health. If you have Crohn's disease and smoke, you probably don't care all that much. I also think that if you are a miserable person with bad relationships, your body tells you to live differently in many different ways.

  • Prioritize your wellbeing! The mind and body are connected. If you are in a place in life where you feel bad/stressed/worried/anxious/tense/sad/frightened. You will feel it in your body. Make sure you remove everything that gives you bad energy. Try to live a calmer and more relaxed life. Be grateful for the times you're feeling well. If you have one goal in life, it should be to feel well. Prioritize your wellbeing!
  •  You should learn how to be relaxed and get yourself in harmony. I recommend two things for a calmer life. One is to study ancient eastern philosophies like Tao and Zen. The other is to get to know yourself. More on that here. I also recommend yoga and workout.
  • Sleep well. Sleep is probably more important than anything else for your health. Study after study shows that our bodies and brains deteriorate when we don't get enough sleep. We rejuvenate during sleep. There are many, many things you can do to improve your sleep. Here is a link to a blog post where I give tips on how to sleep better.
  • Fasting is so important. Imagine our ancestors, hunter-gatherers, without a refrigerator full of food. Food has always been scarce, up until recently. Getting food is too easy now. You don't have to work for it. You can have as much as you want. Our metabolism hasn't adapted to this. So when we stuff ourselves with food all day long, our bodies don't have time to rest. During the fast, we begin starving those cells we don't want. All religions suggest fasting. Do I believe in a specific God? No, but I think religions carry wisdom that has been passed down for thousands of years. The wisdom is to let your body rest. Let your body feel hunger. Let your body understand what hunger is so you'll appreciate food more.
  • Diet. Eat well. Here is my FAQ. You'll find a list of what to eat and what not to eat.
  • Workout. You should break a sweat once a day. More and more studies show us the Importance of exercise. You don't need to become an elite athlete. But break a sweat once a day. Be fully focused when you workout. Make yourself tired. Grow stronger, leaner, and more flexible.
